治好格拉森被鬼附的人

(太8‧28-34;路8‧26-39)

1他們來到海那邊格拉森人的地方。 2耶穌一下船,就有一個被污鬼附着的人從墳塋裏出來迎着他。 3那人常住在墳塋裏,沒有人能捆住他,就是用鐵鍊也不能; 4因為人屢次用腳鐐和鐵鍊捆鎖他,鐵鍊竟被他掙斷了,腳鐐也被他弄碎了;總沒有人能制伏他。 5他晝夜常在墳塋裏和山中喊叫,又用石頭砍自己。 6他遠遠地看見耶穌,就跑過去拜他, 7大聲呼叫說:「至高神的兒子耶穌,我與你有甚麼相干?我指着神懇求你,不要叫我受苦!」 8是因耶穌曾吩咐他說:「污鬼啊,從這人身上出來吧!」 9耶穌問他說:「你名叫甚麼?」回答說:「我名叫『羣』,因為我們多的緣故」; 10就再三地求耶穌,不要叫他們離開那地方。


11在那裏山坡上,有一大羣豬吃食; 12鬼就央求耶穌說:「求你打發我們往豬羣裏,附着豬去。」 13耶穌准了他們,污鬼就出來,進入豬裏去。於是那羣豬闖下山崖,投在海裏,淹死了。豬的數目約有二千。 14放豬的就逃跑了,去告訴城裏和鄉下的人。眾人就來,要看是甚麼事。 15他們來到耶穌那裏,看見那被鬼附着的人,就是從前被羣鬼所附的,坐着,穿上衣服,心裏明白過來,他們就害怕。 16看見這事的,便將鬼附之人所遇見的和那羣豬的事都告訴了眾人; 17眾人就央求耶穌離開他們的境界。 18耶穌上船的時候,那從前被鬼附着的人懇求和耶穌同在。 19耶穌不許,卻對他說:「你回家去,到你的親屬那裏,將主為你所做的是何等大的事,是怎樣憐憫你,都告訴他們。」 20那人就走了,在低加坡里傳揚耶穌為他做了何等大的事,眾人就都希奇。


各位平安,我們接下來要一起來讀《馬可福音》第五章的故事。第五章一共包含了三個彼此相關、卻又各自獨立的小故事。而這三個故事,其實都指向同一件事情——人處在極度絕望、被隔絕的狀態之中,而耶穌的介入,徹底改變了他們的生命。


我們可以一個一個來看。


第一個故事,是第五章一到二十節,關於一個被鬼附的人。這個人因為被鬼附,早已失去了正常的社會生活。他無法與人同住,無法與家人正常相處,只能住在墳墓裡,被鎖鍊捆綁,又不斷地傷害自己。他完全被社會隔離,也被人視為危險、可怕、不值得接近的人。他的人生,可以說是徹底的絕望。


第二個故事,是血漏的婦人。這位婦人因為長期的疾病,身體一直處在流血的狀態。而在當時的猶太文化與律法之中,婦人流血被視為不潔淨的。因此,這十二年來,她不只是身體痛苦,更是被宗教規範與社會制度所隔離。她不能正常參與宗教生活,也不能與人自由來往。她是一個被宗教規矩、被社會眼光推到邊緣的人。


第三個故事,則是管會堂的人——睚魯——他的女兒死了。這代表的是人類最無法跨越的一道鴻溝:死亡。死亡意味著徹底的隔離,生與死之間的斷裂,是任何人都無法靠自己跨越的界線。當一個人死去,我們與他之間,彷彿被永遠隔開。


在這三個故事裡,我們看到三種不同的隔離:一個人,被邪靈隔離,與社會斷絕;一個人,被疾病與宗教規範隔離;一個家庭,被死亡隔離。


而耶穌,正是在這三種最深、最無力、最無法跨越的隔離之中,一次又一次地介入,顯明祂的權柄與憐憫。祂要讓我們知道:沒有任何一種隔離、沒有任何一種絕望、沒有任何一種黑暗,能夠阻擋祂的同在,也沒有任何事情,能夠隔絕祂的愛。


先來看那個被鬼附的人的故事。


耶穌來到格拉森人的地方,遇見了一個被一大群鬼附著的人。如果把這段經文拍成電影,其實會是一個非常驚悚的場景。我們剛剛才讀到,耶穌帶著門徒渡過加利利海,來到湖的另一邊。


而這一帶地形特殊,有許多洞穴,這些洞穴在當時是用來埋葬死人的。換句話說,他們是在夜晚來到了一片墳墓區,走進死人居住的地方,然後在那裡遇到了一個被鬼附的人。你可以想像,這根本就像是一部恐怖片的開場。


這個人被鬼附的情況非常嚴重。經文形容,他曾經被鎖鏈捆綁,但卻能把鎖鏈掙斷;他用石頭砍傷自己,卻毫無知覺。這清楚地顯示,附在他身上的鬼不只是一般的邪靈,而是極其強大的存在。


當耶穌問那鬼叫什麼名字時,鬼回答說:「我們名叫群。」在英文聖經裡,這個字被翻譯成 Legion,也就是羅馬軍團的名稱。在當時,一個羅馬軍團大約有六千人。這不是在告訴我們精確的數字,而是在強調:附在這個人身上的,不是一個鬼,而是一大群鬼,一個「軍團」般龐大的勢力。


然而,這些鬼一見到耶穌,就立刻認出祂是誰。他們稱呼耶穌為上帝的兒子,並且懇求祂不要折磨他們。當他們看到附近有一大群豬時,就央求耶穌准許他們進入豬群裡面。耶穌准了他們的請求,結果,那些鬼進入豬群之後,整群豬發瘋似地衝下山坡,掉進海裡淹死了。經文特別記載,那大約有兩千多頭豬。你可以想像,那是一個極其震撼、甚至令人恐懼的畫面。


但就在這樣的混亂之中,那個被鬼附的人,卻恢復了清醒,完全正常了。


接下來,故事出現了一個非常令人深思的轉折。當地的人看到這一切,不但沒有歡喜,反而嚇壞了。他們看見那個從前發瘋、住在墳墓裡的人,如今坐著、穿著衣服、神智清醒,卻感到害怕。他們沒有想要弄清楚事情的真相,也沒有想聽耶穌多說什麼,只是一再地請求耶穌離開他們的地方。


相對地,那個被拯救的人,卻有完全相反的反應。他懇求耶穌,想要跟隨祂,一起離開。但耶穌卻對他說:「你回家去,到你親屬那裡,將主為你所做的是何等大的事,是怎樣憐憫你,都告訴他們。」


於是,這個人回到當地,開始向眾人傳揚耶穌為他所做的一切。他不是十二使徒之一,卻成為那個地區最有力的見證人。因為所有人都認識他,知道他曾經是那個被鬼附、失去理智的人,而如今,他卻能夠恢復正常生活,回到家人中間。這本身,就是一個無法否認、極其真實的福音見證。


當然,有時候也會有人問我一個問題,我其實很常聽到:「牧師,那一群豬不就很可憐嗎?」


好啦,如果你這樣想,我其實也沒有意見,因為這代表你是一個有憐憫心的人。但我們需要把一件事情放在正確的次序裡來看。聖經在這裡要讓我們看見的是:在上帝的眼中,一個人的靈魂,遠遠比世上一切受造之物都更加寶貴。


你會發現,上帝在救恩歷史中所做的一切,幾乎都是圍繞著「人」來進行的。祂所關心的,不是財產的損失,不是經濟的代價,而是那一個被捆綁、被隔絕、被絕望吞噬的人,是否能夠被拯救、被恢復。


所以,當我們問「那些豬怎麼辦」的時候,或許更重要的問題是:你知不知道,你在上帝眼中,到底有多大的價值?耶穌為了你,連自己的生命都捨了。祂不是犧牲了幾頭豬,而是把自己完全交出去,為你走上十字架。若連祂自己的生命都願意為你捨下,又怎麼會捨不得其他一切呢?


因此,在讀這段經文的時候,我們當然可以提出問題,也可以思考細節;但當我們真正明白上帝對你的愛是何等深、何等真實的時候,很多原本看起來重要的次要問題,就會自然退到後面。


這裡其實還有一個很重要、但很容易被忽略的小細節,在第 20 節提到一個地方,叫作「低加波利」(Decapolis)。


那麼,低加波利是什麼地方呢?從歷史與考古研究來看,「低加波利」的意思就是「十座城」。這不是一個小鎮,也不是一個偏僻的鄉村,而是由十個主要城市所組成的一個區域,這些城市大多位於約旦河東岸一帶。


這十座城市,而是相當成熟、完整的城市體系。它們有市議會、有公共建築、有自己的經濟系統,也有相當穩定的社會結構。在政治上,這些城市與羅馬帝國的關係,比較接近一種「自治區」的概念——他們需要向羅馬政府繳稅、提供兵役,但羅馬並不直接在這些城市駐軍,也給了他們相當程度的自由。


因此,低加波利這個區域,深受希臘文化的影響。這裡並不是信仰的真空地帶,恰恰相反,是一個充滿異教信仰的地方。希臘文化本身就是多神信仰,從宙斯開始,還有各式各樣的神祇與宗教實踐。在這十座城市裡,人們早已習慣敬拜各種不同的神。


就在這樣一個文化背景之下,你會突然發現一件很奇妙的事。這個曾經被鬼附、被社會隔絕、住在墳墓裡的人,雖然聖經沒有記載他的名字,但他所做的事情,卻和後來的使徒保羅有幾分相似。


耶穌沒有帶他一起離開,也沒有讓他成為十二門徒之一,反而是差派他回到自己的地方去。等於是,耶穌親自把他差遣到低加波利——這個希臘文化濃厚、異教信仰盛行的地方,成為一個為上帝作見證的人。


而且,這個人本身,就是一個無法被忽略的見證。因為在那個地方,所有人都認識他——他就是那個曾經被鬼附、發瘋、被鎖鏈綑綁、住在墳墓裡的格拉森人。但現在,他卻完全好了,成為一個清醒、正常、能夠回到家庭與社會中的人。


正因為大家都認識他的「過去」,所以他的「現在」就顯得格外有力量。他不需要高深的神學論述,也不需要長篇大道理,他只需要講一件事:主為我做了什麼。而這樣的見證,成為影響當地文化、衝擊當地信仰的一個重要轉折點。


你會發現,上帝常常使用的,不是最完美的人,而是那些被祂徹底翻轉過的人。也正是在這樣的地方、這樣的人身上,福音開始生根、發芽。


另外,這裡我們還需要特別注意一個很重要的細節。這個被鬼附的人,在得醫治、恢復正常之後,其實非常渴望跟隨耶穌,成為祂的門徒,和祂一起離開。但耶穌卻沒有答應他的請求,反而吩咐他一件看起來很「反直覺」的事——要他回到家裡去,回到自己的地方,為主作見證。


這提醒我們一件非常重要的事情:並不是只有成為牧師、傳道人,才是為主作見證的方式;也不是只有站上講台、進入全職服事,才能宣揚福音。耶穌在這裡清楚地告訴我們,為主作見證,並不只發生在教會裡,也不只發生在講道台上。


事實上,我們每一個人在自己的日常生活中,對我們的家人、親屬、朋友、同事,甚至是我們所處的社群,本身就擁有最真實、也最有力的見證空間。你所走過的路、你被上帝翻轉的生命,正是那些最靠近你的人最容易看見、也最容易被觸動的地方。


所以,耶穌不只是差派牧師與傳道人進到人群之中,祂同時也差派你——回到你的家裡、回到你的朋友圈、回到你的生活現場,去述說主為你做了什麼事。這正是福音最自然、也最有力量的傳遞方式。


今日屬靈反思

1.    你的屬靈環境是怎麼樣的呢?上帝把你放在這樣的環境裡,要你怎麼去做見證呢?

2.    你是否也有過像這個人一樣的請求,想要跟隨耶穌,但是耶穌卻要你“你回家去,到你的親屬那裏,將主為你所做的是何等大的事,是怎樣憐憫你,都告訴他們。“

Peace to you all. Next, we will read together the story found in Mark chapter 5.

Chapter 5 contains three interconnected yet distinct stories.Although each story stands on its own, all three point to the same reality:human beings in states of deep despair and isolation—and how the intervention of Jesus completely transforms their lives.

Let us look at them one by one.


The first story, found in Mark 5:1–20, is about a man possessed by demons.Because of this possession, he had long lost the ability to live a normal social life. He could not live with others, could not relate normally to his family, and was forced to dwell among the tombs.He was bound with chains, yet he broke them apart, and he continually harmed himself.He was completely isolated from society and regarded as dangerous, frightening, and untouchable.His life, by every measure, was one of utter hopelessness.


The second story is about the woman with the flow of blood. Because of her long-term illness, she remained in a constant state of bleeding. According to Jewish law and culture at the time, such bleeding rendered a woman ceremonially unclean. As a result, for twelve years she suffered not only physically, but also socially and religiously. She was excluded from worship and normal community life.She was a woman pushed to the margins by religious regulations and social judgment.


The third story is about Jairus, a synagogue leader, whose daughter had died.This represents the greatest and most absolute divide humanity faces—death. Death is total separation.Once someone dies, the boundary between the living and the dead cannot be crossed by human effort.We are permanently separated from those we love.


In these three stories, we see three forms of separation:– A man isolated from society by evil spirits– A woman isolated by illness and religious law– A family isolated by death

And in each of these deepest, most powerless, most impossible situations, Jesus steps in.Again and again, He reveals His authority and His compassion.He shows us that no form of separation, no depth of despair, no darkness is strong enough to block His presence or sever His love.


Let us first look at the story of the demon-possessed man.


Jesus arrived in the region of the Gerasenes and encountered a man possessed by a great number of demons.If this passage were made into a movie, it would be truly terrifying.We have just read how Jesus and His disciples crossed the Sea of Galilee and arrived on the other side.This region was full of caves, which at that time were used as burial places. In other words, they arrived at night in a graveyard, a place for the dead—and there they encountered a demon-possessed man. It is the perfect opening scene for a horror film.


This man’s possession was severe.Scripture tells us he had been bound with chains, yet he tore them apart.He cut himself with stones and felt no pain.This shows clearly that the demons possessing him were not ordinary—they were extraordinarily powerful.


When Jesus asked the demon its name, it replied, “My name is Legion.”In the English Bible, the word Legion refers to a Roman military unit of about six thousand soldiers.This is not meant to give us a precise number, but to emphasize that this man was not possessed by one demon, but by a massive force—an army.


Yet the moment these demons saw Jesus, they recognized Him immediately.They called Him the Son of God and begged Him not to torment them.Seeing a large herd of pigs nearby, they pleaded with Jesus to allow them to enter the pigs.Jesus permitted it. When the demons entered the pigs, the entire herd rushed down the slope and drowned in the sea—about two thousand pigs. It was a shocking and terrifying sight.


But in the midst of this chaos, the man was restored—completely sane and whole.

Then comes a deeply thought-provoking turn.The local people saw what had happened and were not filled with joy—but fear.They saw the man who once lived among the tombs now sitting calmly, clothed, and in his right mind—and they were afraid.They did not seek understanding.They did not want to hear more from Jesus.Instead, they begged Him to leave their region.


In contrast, the man who had been saved responded completely differently.He begged Jesus to let him go with Him. But Jesus said to him,“Go home to your people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how He has had mercy on you.”


So the man returned and began proclaiming throughout the region what Jesus had done for him.Though he was not one of the Twelve, he became the most powerful witness in that area.Everyone knew who he was—once demon-possessed, out of his mind, living among tombs.Now he was restored, living with his family.His life itself was undeniable testimony to the gospel.


Sometimes people ask me, “Pastor, what about the pigs? Isn’t that sad?”


If you feel that way, that simply shows compassion—and that’s not wrong.But Scripture is asking us to see priorities clearly. In God’s eyes, a human soul is infinitely more valuable than all created things combined.


Throughout salvation history, God’s actions center on people.He is not primarily concerned with economic loss or material cost.He is concerned with restoring the one who is bound, isolated, and swallowed by despair.


So when we ask, “What about the pigs?”Perhaps the more important question is: Do you know how valuable you are to God? Jesus did not merely sacrifice animals—He gave His own life for you. If He was willing to give Himself for you, would He withhold anything else?

This passage also contains a subtle but important detail in verse 20 — the region called Decapolis. Decapolis means “ten cities.”This was not a rural area but a developed region east of the Jordan River, heavily influenced by Greek culture.These were autonomous cities with councils, economies, and infrastructure—deeply rooted in pagan worship.


In this context, Jesus sent this once-possessed man back—not as a disciple traveling with Him, but as a missionary to a pagan world. Like Paul later, he bore witness where he was known.Because everyone knew his past, his present transformation carried tremendous power.He needed no theology degree—only one message: what the Lord had done for him.

God often uses not the most polished people, but those most transformed.


Finally, we must notice one more crucial detail.This man wanted to follow Jesus—but Jesus sent him home.This reminds us that being a witness is not limited to pastors or missionaries.Witness happens in homes, families, workplaces, friendships.Jesus sends not only ministers into the world—He sends you back into your life to testify.

  1. What kind of spiritual environment has God placed you in, and how might He be calling you to bear witness there?

  2. Have you ever wanted to follow Jesus in one way, but He instead said:


    “Go home to your people and tell them what the Lord has done for you”?
